Final countdown for MiPad Doll’s House

3 days left!!! Elaine Shaw's "MiPad Doll’s House for Adult Collectors and Children" is on it's last call for funding. Check out all of the details on her kickstarter page here: http://kck.st/If1IIP

Elaine is trying to encourage people to do what they want to do in life, not what they think they have to do. "Many people find it hard to decide what they want to do in life. I believe you should do what you are good at for a living because it's probably what you love. The more you love it, the more you want to practice it, the more you practice, the better you become at it and we all WANT you to do what you're best at because you'll do a better job at it than something you don't like. It's your gift and your duty to share it with the world." - Elaine Shaw

Elaine's first Clearview Dollhouse, that sold almost 100 houses, was a great learning curve and helped her to address many pieces of this new design. The MiPad is easier to assemble, has less wastage with the window frame cut outs, faster packaging for shipping, and is customizable with many gorgeous designs to choose from for each floor. This can truly be your dream dollhouse with even more designs in the works. I hope Elaine continues to do what she loves as she is sooo good at! Don't we all want a dollhouse this amazing!?!?

Elaine Shaw is back with a clear view for the future

One of the questions I get emailed the most often is "what happened to Elaine Shaw?" Well folks, she's back. With a vengeance.

Elaine Shaw (designer of the Clearview Doll's House, founder of Miaim) is back with a brilliant new design you can read all about on her Kickstarter page here: www.kickstarter.com/projects/115382705/mi-pad-dolls-house-for-adult-collectors-and-childr. Kickstarter is a really cool website the helps creators/inventors/artists/authors fund their projects and bring their ideas to life.

Elaine gained notoriety when her Clearview Dollhouse debuted in 2010. The Clearview was a stepping stone to bigger and brighter designs, and Elaine is thrilled to offer you a chance to get in on the ground floor and build your own dream dollhouse out of her newest idea the "MiPad".

The MiPad is made up of individual floors. Each floor is 23cm high, 51cm deep and 61cm wide or approximately 9” high, 20” deep and 24” wide. Instead of buying the whole house, you buy it one floor at a time and build your house the way you want it. All of the floors are stackable and interchangeable. Elaine currently has 4 different floor designs and is working on another 6 floors so there will be 10 floor designs to choose from.

The MiPad is built to be assembled permanently or to be taken down and reassembled for relocation. The clear acrylic doors slide all the way out and others open up easily or can be removed and everything is replaceable.

Elaine has 24 more days to have people fund her project to bring the MiPad into existence. If you are as excited about this gorgeous modern dollhouse as I am, I hope you can help fund Elaine's MiPad by pledging to buy a floor or two. If you can't, please spread the word so we can find enough buyers to get these houses built. Our world needs more modern dollhouses in it.

Glass House model on Today Show?

UPDATE: Thanks Callsmall! Here is the twitter feed pic from The Glass House that she mentioned, oh I really want to see some close ups!!

Also, I just found this video of the Today Show episode. Skip to 2:10min to see the miniature Glass House http://www.today.com/video/today/53295164/#53295164. Here are some screen captures of the video. I LOVE that brown barcelona chair and daybed, so dreamy! I wonder if those are Vitra?

ORIGINAL:
I heard that on the Today Show this morning, Neiman Marcus was promoting their Christmas Book which includes "The Glass House Experience" under the Fantasy Gifts section ($30,000 to stay in the actual Glass House). Apparently they had a model of Philip Johnson's Glass House. Did anyone see the model or see any photos online? I would love to see the model and find out if there are more than one for promotions and what will happen to the beauty after the holidays.

Below is a picture of the model of the Glass House on display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. I would love to have a dollhouse like this.

What's new in the Antrim?

I finally found some time to share some of the new pieces I've added to my collection. I backed the kickstarter Modern MC tweeted Tiny Out Loud : A bigger than life miniature film and received this beautiful oil painting on the right side wall. I can't read the artist's signature, so I have to follow up with them to find out who painted it. The Paris wall art is a magnet from a set from Typo, a giveaway from The Shopping Sherpa. And of course, I took advantage of the PRD Miniatures summer sale and got some fab addtions to the house. Click on any image to enlarge.

NEW PRD Miniatures: ottoman and matching pillows, spatial side table, framed abstract art poster, bolero bench, emerson console table (matches the kitchen). The uno sofas, cole entertainment console, and custom fireplace are also PRD, along with some books, accessories, rug and metallic tribal cubes. Can you tell I love Paris?

The Repeat Bookshelves are by me and for sale at my shop here along witht the blue, purble and white vases and planter in the corner are available in a variety of colors here and the white tray on the ottoman here. Stag Head is Dotsan. Accessories: minimodernas, pouff by Pepper, orchid by fortunate island minis, CB2, Tap Plastics, local DH show, ebay finds. Coming next is some new minimodernistas!

Farewell Kaleidoscope House

We had a good run, but it's time to move on. I love my Kaleidoscope House but the colorful panels make it difficult to get the lighting you want and the floor plan is a bit tricky. I've debated swapping the panels out with clear plexi, but with the time and effort that would take, I might as well just build another house. So the KHouse has been relocated to a corner in the living room for the kids to play with. It's filled with the IKEA Lilabo dollhouse furniture, but is often stuffed with cars and legos.

Here is one last look before saying goodbye to "my" dollhouse.

Living room: Fixation bookcases, Efficient bookcase, trays and designer chair pillows are by me. Stag head by Dotsan (he now has a mini rhino and tiger head too!) Sectional, rug and coffee table are minimodernistas. Framed art, picture frame stand, decor, paintings, art books are PRD Miniatures. Orange barrel chairs are Welcome Home by Maryann Roy.

Kitchen/Dining: 3 piece modern kitchen set on ebay $35. Green IKEA bookcase and table by minimodernistas, chairs are Reac Japan.

Entry: Daybed and rug are PRD Miniatures, chairs are Reach Japan. Vases KHouse accessories and one of mine.

Accessories: Mighty World Town Cafe, Re-ment, Tap Plastics, CW Lubin, Petite Princess, Kaleidoscope House Accessories, ebay and dollhouse shop finds.

Bedroom 1: The bedrooms are so tiny! I took the headboard off the Kaleidoscope House accessories bed and reupholstered the footboard as the headboard. Frames are PRD Miniatures. Rugs, shell art and pillows are minimodernistas. Chair is Petite Princess. Wood cutouts are Kaiser Craft. Dresser is ebay find. Accessories are William Maranville, Gilbert Mena and dollhouse show finds.

Closet (small room between bedrooms, originally was the bathroom): Who needs a closet for clothes when you can have a closet full of toys. Ms. Pac Man arcade game is by Retro Heart. Robot heads are key covers from CB2. Can't remember brand name of animals from mom and pop store that went out of business. Stool is Lil' Bratz. Rug is free fabric sample.

Bathroom (technically bedroom 2): I finally have my modern bathroom set up courtesy of Studio Seven swap (mini*aesthetics); pedestal sink, mirror panel, accessories, bath salts, shorter plant, tub. Hatbox toilet is PRD Miniatures. iPad is lilu. Wood cutout is Kaiser Craft. Brown stools are HBS miniatures.com. Bath faucet is from minismodernas.com. Tower shelf and accessories are ebay find.

Patio: The wood cord and ModFire is from Meagan (tinyfixation) built from plans by Pepper (MitchyMooMiniatures). Verde plant and Ribb Chaise is PRD Miniatures. Green topiaries are place card holders from minis2b. White stools are HBS miniatures.com. Pillows by minimodernistas. Watch dog and chairs are CB2.
